National Texo Compound: Spray Texture Under Acrylic Rock

Close-up of a textured wall finish

Texo Compound is National’s other spray texture for tile-effect and Acrylic Rock walls. Short answer: National Texo Compound is a water-based copolymer emulsion with fine quartz aggregate, sprayed in one coat over a primer and finished with two coats of Acrylic Rock Top Coat. It covers about 1 to 2 m² per litre, according to National’s data sheet.

Frequently asked questions

Can I roll it?

The data sheet lists only a special spray gun. If you need to roll, Nutex’s sheet lists roller as an option.

Step 1: prepare the wall

  • National’s surface preparation guide calls for high-pressure water washing (2200 psi minimum) on exteriors, then a dry, sound surface free of laitance and efflorescence.
  • Prime before spraying. See PVA Primer White and Acrylic Primer (W.B.).

What the numbers mean

Coverage = 45 × 10 ÷ 250 = 1.8 and 45 × 10 ÷ 500 = 0.9 m² per litre, close to the sheet’s 1 to 2. Wet film = 250 ÷ 0.45 ≈ 555 microns, matching its 550.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Rolling it. The sheet lists a special spray gun.
  • Topcoating before 24 hours.
