National Super Finetex: Flexible Aggregate-Free Texture, Inside and Out

Textured stucco wall in side light

Short answer: National Super Finetex is a water-based, flexible, aggregate-free texture rolled on in light, medium or heavy texture with a satin finish (gloss on request), for interior and exterior concrete, plaster, gypsum, masonry, blockwork and wood. National describes low dirt pickup and good humidity and UV resistance. Prime with PVA Primer Sealer, Acrylic Primer (W.B.) or Tex Primer, then apply one or two coats. It covers about 1 to 2 m² per litre.

Why aggregate-free

Most National textures get their profile from quartz or marble aggregate. Super Finetex has none: the pattern comes from the roller, and the film stays flexible. One product gives light, medium or heavy texture depending on how it is rolled. National’s specifier lists “Fine Tex” in light, medium and heavy among its textured emulsion systems.

Step 1: prepare the wall

  • Clean, dry and sound; pressure-wash exteriors at 2200 psi minimum, per National’s surface preparation guide.
  • Remove laitance, efflorescence and grease.
  • Repair cracks with Joint Filler. A light texture shows more of the surface than a heavy one.

Step 2: the system

  1. Primer, one coat: PVA Primer Sealer, Acrylic Primer (W.B.) or Tex Primer.
  2. Super Finetex, one or two coats, 4 to 6 hours apart.
  3. Optional topcoat after 24 hours: Nationalthane or Acrylic Rock.

What the numbers mean

Coverage = 540 ÷ 250 ≈ 2.2 and 540 ÷ 500 ≈ 1.1 m² per litre, so the sheet’s 1 to 2 range is about the difference between a light and a heavy roll.
