National Tex Glossy: Satin Texture for Portable Cabins and False Ceilings

Red textured wall surface

Short answer: National Tex Glossy is a water-based copolymer texture with a satin finish for interior and exterior concrete, plaster and wood. National lists it as suited to portable cabins and false ceilings. Prime with PVA Primer Sealer, Acrylic Primer (W.B.) or Tex Primer, then roll or spray one coat. It covers about 1 to 1.5 m² per litre, is touch dry in about 2 hours and recoats in 6 to 8 hours at 30°C.

What makes Tex Glossy different

Most National textures are matt and are often finished with a separate PU or Acrylic Rock topcoat to add sheen. Tex Glossy gives a satin texture in one product, and its data sheet names two uses where that helps: portable cabins and false ceilings. Compare it with the other satin or silk textures:

Step by step

  1. Prepare: clean, dry and sound. For concrete and plaster, follow National’s guide (remove laitance, efflorescence, grease). For wood or board, sand smooth and dust off.
  2. Prime, one coat: PVA Primer Sealer, Acrylic Primer (W.B.) or Tex Primer.
  3. Apply Tex Glossy, one coat, by roller or spray.

What the numbers mean

Coverage = 450 ÷ 300 = 1.5 and 450 ÷ 500 = 0.9 m² per litre, matching the sheet’s 1 to 1.5. Its wet film is thick (650 to 1,100 microns), so lay it in one even pass rather than working it repeatedly.
