National Spray Plaster Fine: Smooth Spray Plaster for Interior Walls and Ceilings

Living room with smooth white walls and a fireplace

Short answer: National Spray Plaster Fine is a white, water-based coating that gives a smooth finish on interior concrete, plaster, wood, walls and ceilings, including uneven masonry and unplastered blockwork. Apply two coats at 0.5 to 1 mm each with a conventional spray-plaster gun or a putty knife, 6 to 8 hours apart at 30°C. Thin 5 to 10% with water depending on the thickness you need. It is for interiors only.

When to use Spray Plaster Fine

It sits between a filler and a plaster. Where Stucco Filler smooths walls that are already flat and Block Filler seals pores, Spray Plaster Fine builds 0.5 to 1 mm per coat, enough to even out uneven masonry, and can be sprayed over large areas. Typical jobs: unplastered blockwork in stores or service areas, patchy ceilings, and walls with visible joints.

Step by step

  1. Prepare: clean, dry and sound, as National’s surface preparation guide requires. Brush off loose mortar and dust; remove efflorescence.
  2. Fill big gaps with Joint Filler.
  3. First coat: spray or knife 0.5 to 1 mm; thin up to 10% for spraying.
  4. Wait 6 to 8 hours at 30°C.
  5. Second coat, then finish with the interior wall system of your choice.

How much to buy

A 1 mm coat on 1 m² is 1 litre of wet material, and at 57% solids leaves about 0.57 mm dry. So, working from wet film:

AreaTwo coats at 0.5 mm wetTwo coats at 1 mm wet
10 m²about 10 Labout 20 L
50 m²about 50 Labout 100 L
100 m²about 100 Labout 200 L
Our own geometric calculations, assuming the sheet’s thickness is wet thickness, which the sheet does not specify. Porous blocks take more. Do a trial area before ordering in bulk.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it outside?

No, the data sheet lists interior use only. For exterior walls, look at Block Filler and National’s textures such as Synplast.

Does it replace cement plaster?

It is a finishing coat of up to about 1 mm per coat, not a structural or levelling plaster.
