Short answer: National Synplast is a heavy, high-build synthetic plaster texture, applied by trowel or spray at 1500 to 1800 microns dry. National says it is formulated for Gulf humidity and heat. Prime with Acrylic Primer (W.B.). Expect about 0.5 to 0.7 m² per litre, touch dry in 3 to 4 hours and recoat after 8 to 12 hours at 30°C.
Where Synplast fits
Synplast builds far thicker than National’s roller textures, so it suits walls where you want a plaster-like, heavy finish.

Key facts
| Type | Synthetic plaster texture |
| Volume solids | 72% |
| Specific gravity | 1.80 |
| Spreading rate | 0.5 to 0.7 m² per litre |
| Film per coat | 1500 to 1800 microns dry (2100 to 2500 wet) |
| Drying at 30°C | Touch dry 3 to 4 hours; recoat 8 to 12 hours |
| Application | Trowel or spray |
| Primer | Acrylic Primer (W.B.) |
Step 1: prepare the wall
- Clean, dry and sound; pressure-wash exteriors at 2200 psi minimum, per National’s surface preparation guide.
- Remove laitance, efflorescence and any loose or flaking coating. A heavy film needs a sound base to hold it.
- Repair cracks with Joint Filler.
Step 2: the system
- Primer, one coat: Acrylic Primer (W.B.).
- Synplast, by trowel or spray, to 1500 to 1800 microns dry.
What the numbers mean
A litre spread at 2100 microns wet covers about 1 ÷ 2.1 ≈ 0.48 m², and at 1500 microns wet about 0.67 m². So the sheet’s 0.5 to 0.7 m² per litre lines up with the thinner end of its film range. At the full 2500 microns wet you would get closer to 0.4 m² per litre, so plan on the low end.
How much to buy
| Wall area | At 0.7 m²/L | At 0.5 m²/L | Weight at 0.5 m²/L |
|---|---|---|---|
| 20 m² (feature wall) | about 29 L | about 40 L | about 72 kg |
| 50 m² | about 71 L | about 100 L | about 180 kg |
| 150 m² | about 215 L | about 300 L | about 540 kg |
Mistakes to avoid
- Ordering at roller-texture rates. Synplast uses three to four times more material per m².
- Recoating early. Allow 8 to 12 hours at 30°C; thick films need the time.
