Tex Primer is Terraco’s surface consolidation primer. It soaks into cement-based surfaces to bind them and give a sound, uniform base for textured coatings such as Terracoat, paints and thin-layer mortars. Key properties
- Binds dusting surfaces and improves adhesion of the finish.
- Reduces efflorescence and surface alkalinity.
- Acts as a pigmented undercoat and gives a mechanical key.
- Especially suited to sealing old, dry, absorbent, untreated concrete.
Suitable substrates
Sand/cement render, cast-in-situ and precast concrete, lightweight concrete and blockwork. Terraco recommends it before all decorative finishes on these surfaces and on Terraco EIFS.
Surface preparation and application
- Scrape and brush away dust, dirt and foreign matter; make sure surfaces are free of salts, oil, grease and ridges.
- Repair cracks, chips and voids with a suitable Terraco repair compound such as Handycoat Exterior.
- Stir the primer thoroughly.
- Apply liberally and evenly by brush, roller or spray, and allow to dry.
- Apply the decorative finish as soon as possible after the primer has dried, for best adhesion.
- Clean tools with water.
