It covers 10 to 15 m² per litre and can be polished after 8 to 15 hours at 30°C. Shelf life is 6 months.

Step 1: prepare
- Steel furniture: degrease, then remove rust to Sa 2.5 or St 2, per National’s surface preparation guide.
- Galvanised or aluminium: the guide calls for degreasing and sanding with abrasive paper and solvent; ask us about the right primer before the N.C. system.
- Wood: dry, rubbed down with glass paper and dusted.
Step 2: the system
- N.C. Primer Surfacer, one coat.
- N.C. Putty or Polyester Putty, one coat, sanded.
- N.C. Primer Surfacer, one coat.
- N.C. Gold, two coats.
- N.C. Auto Lacquer Clear, one coat.
What the numbers mean
Coverage = 30 × 10 ÷ 30 = 10 and 30 × 10 ÷ 20 = 15 m² per litre. Small decorative pieces have many edges and spray losses, so expect to use more than the flat-area figure.

Mistakes to avoid
- Leaving off the clear coat. The listed system ends with one.
- Brushing. The sheet lists spray only.
- Spraying near flames. The flash point is 7°C.

The data sheet does not give a heat rating. For hot pipes and poles, National rates Aluminium Paint to 250°C.
How long does it keep?
The sheet gives 6 months for sealed tins. Buy close to the job.
