National Stoving Enamel: Oven-Cured Gloss for Appliances and Industrial Parts

Appliance production line in a factory

Short answer: National Stoving Enamel is an alkyd-melamine formaldehyde industrial enamel, cured in an oven, for metal equipment, domestic appliances and automotive and industrial parts. National describes a tough, flexible film with excellent gloss, adhesion and weather resistance. Spray one 30-micron coat over Stoving Primer, flash off for 10 to 15 minutes, then stove at 120°C for 30 minutes or 150°C for 20 minutes. It covers about 17 m² per litre and comes in National shade-card colours.

What the numbers mean

Coverage = 510 ÷ 30 = 17 m² per litre, the sheet’s figure. Wet film = 30 ÷ 0.51 ≈ 59 microns, matching the recommended 60.

How much to buy

About 2.9 L per 50 m² of parts and 5.9 L per 100 m² at the theoretical rate (our own calculation). Small parts and complex shapes lose much more to overspray, and the 6-month shelf life means ordering to your production plan.
