Leaking roofs, damp bathroom floors and seeping water tanks are some of the most common building problems in Dubai and Sharjah. Terraco Weathercoat GP is a two-component, cement-acrylic waterproofing system that can be used on roofs, wet rooms, water-retaining structures and foundations. This guide summarises Terraco’s UAE technical data sheet.
Key facts at a glance
- Two components: a cement-based powder and an acrylic resin, mixed on site.
- Permanently flexible and crack-bridging once cured, according to Terraco.
- Applied by brush, roller or spray.
- Coverage 1.5 to 2.0 kg/m² for a 1 mm layer.
- Dries in about 3 hours; minimum 6 hours between coats.
- Colours: grey and natural white.
Where it can be used
Terraco lists roofs, facades, wet rooms and water-retaining structures, including foundations, retaining walls, swimming pools, planters, wet room floors and water tanks. The data sheet says it adheres to new and old precast and in-situ concrete, resists UV light and alkalinity, and is vapour permeable. Cement mortars can be applied over it, so it can sit under tiles or screeds.

Mix ratios
The flexibility of the finished layer depends on the ratio of resin to powder. Terraco gives three mixes (resin : powder : water, by weight):
| Use | Resin | Powder | Water |
|---|---|---|---|
| Coating | 1 | 2 | None |
| Waterproof flexible slurry | 1 | 3 | 0 to 0.1 |
| Waterproof flexible screed | 1 | 4 | 0.1 to 0.2 |
The kit pack is a 20 kg pail containing 5 kg of resin and 15 kg of powder, which matches the 1:3 slurry ratio.
How it is applied
- Prepare the surface. Remove dirt, foreign matter, ridges and form oil. Clean dusty or flaking surfaces thoroughly.
- Prime only if needed. On dusty or flaking surfaces, Terraco specifies Penetrating Primer Clear or Terrabond A diluted 1:3 with water.
- Mix. Combine resin and powder with a high-speed mixer or power agitator until smooth. Add water only when spraying, to reach the right consistency.
- Apply. Brush, roll or spray. Use the mix within 1 hour and do not add water to re-thin it once it starts to stiffen.
- Recoat. Wait at least 6 hours between coats. The number of coats depends on the specification for the job.
How much do you need?
At 1.5 to 2.0 kg of mixed product per m² for each 1 mm of thickness, a 50 m² roof at 1 mm needs roughly 75 to 100 kg of mixed material, or about four to five 20 kg kits. Double that for a 2 mm build. Check the required thickness with your consultant or applicator.
Before you start
- Waterproofing is only as good as its details: corners, drains, upstands and joints need extra care.
- For roofs, water tanks and swimming pools, follow the project specification and use an experienced applicator.
- Store packs in a dry, shaded place; Terraco gives a 12-month shelf life unopened.
